A pillar of star birth: the Carina Nebula in infrared light
In this photo, also taken by the Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3), infrared light penetrates the dust, making it possible to see far more stars. The WFC3, installed by astronauts during the final Hubble Space Telescope service mission in May 2009, tremendously increased the telescope’s infrared capability.
